Apostle William Brown was an international religious leader and citizen of the world. Apostle William Brown was the Founder, Pastor and General Overseer of Salvation and Deliverance Churches Worldwide, a non-denominational, multicultural ministry; and
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown established Salvation and Deliverance church in 1975. The church was founded with a fundamental objective of preaching salvation and deliverance confirmed by signs, miracles and wonders with a worldwide evangelic underpinning. Apostle William Brown was charmed with changing the lives of thousands worldwide by challenging all to be wholly committed to Jesus in mind, body and spirit; and
WHEREAS, the Salvation and Deliverance Church ministry is currently located at 37 West 116th Street in Harlem, New York. This six story privately owned building has been the church home since 1978 under the leadership of Apostle William Brown; and
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown of Harlem, New York, died on September 28th 2009 at the age of 76; and
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown was born in Birmingham Alabama on April 16th 1933 to Eddie and Annie Brown; and
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown was called to the ministry in the late sixties after evangelizing for a number of years and leaving a highly successful career as a corporate executive; and
WHEREAS, since the establishment of the church in 1975, Apostle William Brown had over 250 churches located within the United States and in countries across the world.
WHEREAS, The Salvation and Deliverance Churches operate day care centers, clinics, Christian schools, one of the largest Christian resorts on the east coast, Bible Colleges and a transportation entrepreneurship. In addition, the congregation has an outreach ministry that feeds and clothes the hungry and homeless. Apostle William Brown was a member of Larry Jones Feed the Children program; and
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown was influential in feeding the souls of many in the Harlem community who were once downtrodden as a result of drugs when there was no hope and only despair. He launched “Christ not Crack” and “Hope; Not Dope” campaigns when drug addiction was at its highest in Harlem and hosted revivals in the park preaching the Word of God.
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown had many accomplishments in ministry which include the building of hospitals and medical clinics in countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Zambia, Liberia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Argentina, Jamaica and Haiti. Fresh water wells were recently dedicated in a province of Haiti where Mission Churches are located: and
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown’s formal education includes degrees in Business Administration and Sociology and Doctoral Degrees in Business Management and Theology (MA, Ph.D., ThD). He attended Alabama State College and Miles College in Montgomery Alabama. Apostle Brown also served in the Air Force for several years.
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown a prolific and powerful speaker and commentator, was also the author of books such as:

- The Just Shall Live By Faith
- The Glorified Church
- Cast Them Out; and,
WHEREAS, Apostle William Brown was the recipient of many numerous and distinguished awards:

- Special Presidential Letter George H Bush 1989

WHEREAS, Apostle Williams Brown will forever be remembered as a father, family man and a spiritual father to those born in the ministry of Salvation and Deliverance Churches Worldwide;
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED THAT, through his ministry, activism and internationally acclaimed leadership Apostle William Brown contributed to Harlem’s renaissance. He preached the Christian message of love and forgiveness to the unsaved, the sick and the suffering. As a result, he helped members of the Harlem community in particular advance themselves both socially and economically through education and spiritual uplift; and
FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, Manhattan Community Board 10 wishes to remember Apostle William Brown former leader of Salvation and Deliverances churches worldwide headquartered in Harlem New York by formally requesting that the New York City Council and the Mayor of New York City enact legislation to support the street co-naming at the South east corner of Malcom X Boulevard (aka Lenox Avenue) at 116th Street to Apostle William Brown Way.
